I'm not a technically-minded fighting game player so I can't really speak to the specifics of the gameplay system and whether or not it lends itself well to technical play. I can however say that the game is a hell of a lot of fun to play, and is really pretty impressive for a portable game. The graphics are on par with the HD console versions of the game. The game's 48 default characters appear large and detailed, and animate fluidly. If there's any slowdown it's so minor as to be virtually unnoticable, and the majority of the time the game appears to run at an impressive 60 frames per second. The backgrounds feature fewer animated elements, and certain levels that scrolled in the console versions don't appear to here. Loading times seem to be roughly on par with the PS3 version.I had concerns going in that the Vita's smaller face-buttons buttons might hamper the gameplay a bit, but I surprisingly found myself having an easier time of it than I did even the PS3 version. The D-Pad is solid, and pulling off complicated combos, special moves, and supers works like a charm. In fact I find myself enjoying the game even more than I did on the PS3. The Touch mode is...well, it's there. In it you can tap the screen to perform combos and activate your supers and X-Factor, which while neat to mess around with for a bit quickly leaves the game feeling like an effortless cake-walk to complete. I think it's something that most folks might be inclined to mess around with once or twice, but I don't see it having legs. The game features all the same gameplay modes as its console cousins do, including Heroes and Heralds (which is day-one DLC). The online stuff is set up exactly like it was on the console versions, and thankfully you have the option of filtering out touch-screen players when you set up matches. You can also opt to allow folks to interrupt your game for matches if you'd like, and again you can choose not to allow touch-screen players to challenge you if you're so inclined. You do have to be connected to Wi-Fi to play online though, as attempting to access the online components on 3G will only allow you to check the leaderboards. In my experiences with it thus-far, online gameplay performed pretty well and was relatively lag-free, but while it was a ton of fun, I'm such a scrub that I'm probably going to spend the bulk of my time with the game offline until I get a bit better at it.If you have the PS3 version you can take advantage of the Ultimate Controller mode, which allows you to use your Vita to control the PS3 game and allows you to map your choice of special moves and/or supers to the touch-screen. That mode really doesn't add much value to the package, and again, you do need the PS3 version to take advantage of it, but if you meet that requirement then it's a nifty extra to tool around with once or twice. Another very cool bonus is that any DLC that you purchased for the PS3 version of the game will be available for you to use on the Vita at no extra charge. So if you've bought any costumes or the two DLC exclusive characters for the PS3 game, then they're yours to use on the Vita as well. The TL;DR version of this review is basically that you're getting the console game in the palm of your hand with a couple of new modes that take advantage of the Vita, and with the only real compromise being that a few of the backgrounds are static or feature fewer animated elements than in the console version. It's a ton of fun, the online play works well, any DLC purchased for the PS3 version carries over, and it controls like a dream. If you want a great version of the game on the go, it's well worth checking out.I had some initial doubts on how this game would be ported over to the Vita. I didn't know if it would be able to keep up with providing home console-level graphics and controls. For the most part, it does and this release is able to provide a nice arcade experience on the Vita. The first thing you will notice are the graphics as they look spot on with the home console versions. Everything runs silky smooth and I have yet to experience any framerate drops. Character animations and gameplay look really nice and colors pop on the Vita's display. The comic book style really shines with the Vita hardware. The physical controls are fine for this though some functionality had to be mapped out to other buttons (since two shoulder/trigger buttons are missing). New touch controls were added to the game as well. These are very simple and fighting purists will completely ignore them. To me, they make things way too easy. You essentially tap on an opponent to perform various attacks. The area where you tapped them will determine what attack you perform. I was essentially unstoppable through the campaign with Ghost Rider since he has a long range attack. To me, it takes the fun out of the game since it makes things way too easy. I blew through the single-player campaign in about 15 minutes using the touch controls whereas that took me a little longer (and I died a lot more) on my Xbox 360.Of course, with this being a faithful home console port, that also means that some of the game's issues were also ported over. The single-player campaign is far too short and online functionality is still a mess. I spend an average of 5-10 minutes waiting for the game to find a match in the lobby. Sony is letting PS3 and Vita owners go against one another so that is helping things but Capom really messed up the online portion. Viewing other people fight is nothing more than a joke as two title cards will just bump against each other until the fight is over. The game lacks a true spectator mode and that is a shame. Lastly, there is always that chance that Capcom will release 349857 different versions of this before Marvel vs Capcom 4 comes out. I wouldn't be surprised if the Vita sees another two or three revisions of the same game.Having said all of that, I still think that this is worth a purchase for Vita owners. It offers some of the best graphics for the handheld and is easily the best fighter out there now. That may change when Mortal Kombat is released but I don't see why these two can't co-exist. The touch controls work but I think they work too well taking away almost all the challenge in fighting and online gameplay is a mess. Fans of the home console versions will definitely enjoy this as it provides (pretty much) the exact same experience.Edit: it appears that Capcom did add a spectator mode. It took a little bit of work for me to find it and is a much needed improvement over the original "spectator" mode which showed nothing more than two title cards bashing together. However, it is limited to only 6 people and the online lobbies still feel like a mess. You won't get kicked completely back out when a match fails to go through but it still takes forever to find someone (at least for me). The single-player capping is also way too short. Even with the upgraded spectator mode, I would give this game a 4 out of 5 stars. It is easily the best fighting game for the Vita now and will likely remain so for a long time (even with Mortal Kombat). I just hope that Capcom doesn't release another revision as they have been known to do.What an amazing game for the ps vita! Fantastic graphics, visuals, and stunning gameplay! The time it took me to receive my order was remarkable! Gamergirlz has impeccable customer service! 5 stars! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️I am a guy who loves two things in life, Playing video games and reading comic books. While I am more of a DC guy, I enjoy reading Marvel comics, especially the X-Men. And I am also a big fan of Capcom, the video game company responsible for popular games like Megaman, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, and so on. So what do you get when you get when you combine those two things? AN AWESOME FIGHTING GAME. Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is a fighting game made by Capcom that combines Capcom characters with Marvel heroes and villains. In the game, players will chose 3 characters to play as for 3v3 combat where the player can switch between characters on the fly, and if all 3 of your Characters are defeated, you lose the fight. The story involves a group of Marvel and Capcom villains trying to drain the power of Galactus, the destroyer of worlds from Marvel. this angers Galactus, and now the heroes have to save the world from Galactus’ wrath. I enjoyed this game a lot! It is really fun to play as the characters with all their attacks, special moves, and flashy hyper combos. The action is very fast paced and fun and all the characters are very overpowered but in a good way. My favorite 3 characters to play as are Megaman Zero, Ryu, and Wolverine. The game is very fun and addictive. I highly recommend it to anybody who is a fan of fighting games, Capcom, Marvel, or just video games and comics in general. My only issue is that the save data and custom controller configurations from the previous owner weren't wiped before being sent to me. Might not even be seen as an issue to some, but it was a bit annoying. Otherwise, a great, hard-to-find game sent in good condition.Great game. It's a shame there is no more like it. The background music, however, is annoying. My son loved it played it for hours .Good as always.Great game
